HB 167 Telemedicine (2014 Session)
Telemedicine: Defines "telemedicine services"; prohibits health insurance policy or Medicaid from requiring face-to-face contact between health care provider & patient as prerequisite to coverage or reimbursement for services; clarifies that use of telemedicine technology under supervision of another health care practitioner may not be interpreted as practicing medicine without license; authorizes DOH to adopt rules; requires department to repeal any rule that prohibits use of telemedicine; requires department to conduct study on options for implementing telemedicine for certain services; requires DOH to submit report to Legislature. Effective Date: July 1, 2014
