HB 817 Reporting Lost or Stolen Firearms (2026 Session)
Reporting Lost or Stolen Firearms: Requires individuals to report lost or stolen firearms to local law enforcement agency in jurisdiction in which loss or theft occurred within specified timeframe; requires such individuals to provide specified information to local law enforcement agency; requires local law enforcement agency to create incident report upon receiving report of lost or stolen firearm; requires individual who reported firearm lost or stolen to notify local law enforcement agency to which loss or theft was reported within specified timeframe if firearm is subsequently recovered. Effective Date: July 1, 2026
