Elections: Revises definition of "marksense ballots"; revises provisions relating to elections, including candidate qualifications, official time of closing of polls, elector assistance, polling room or early voting area layout, election officials, & ballot requirements; requires officer who qualifies for federal public office to resign from office he or she presently holds if terms, or any part thereof, run concurrently; provides registration requirements for persons seeking to qualify for election as a candidate with no party affiliation; provides additional means by which certain candidates may pay qualifying fee; requires governing body of municipality to determine date on which initial & runoff elections for municipal office are held & provides options therefor; preempts to state authority to establish election dates for municipal elections; provides requirements for municipal recall election dates; repeals provisions relating to change of dates for cause in municipal elections; extends terms of incumbent elected municipal officers until next municipal election. Effective Date: July 1, 2017
