HB 1259 Elections (2013 Session)
Elections: Revises qualifications to register to vote; authorizes person who has been convicted of felony & has served his or her sentence to preregister to vote; authorizes DHSMV to automatically register to vote or update voter registration record of eligible individual; requires DHSMV to notify individual that certain information gathered for completion of driver license or identification card application, renewal, or change of address is automatically transferred to voter registration application or used to update voter registration record; requires that applicant who fails to designate party affiliation be registered without party affiliation; revises requirements of statewide voter registration system; requires DOS to develop system that allows eligible citizens to register to vote online; authorizes elector to vote regular ballot at polling place in precinct to which he or she has moved by completing affirmation. Effective Date: July 1, 2013
