HB 479 Compensation for Victims of Excessive Use of Force by Law Enforcement Officers (2021 Session)
Compensation for Victims of Excessive Use of Force by Law Enforcement Officers: Revises definition of term "crime" to include victims of law enforcement officer's excessive use of force for purposes of Florida Crime Victims Compensation Act; provides eligibility for compensation for minor children of nondeceased victim for specified purposes; provides that specified eligibility requirements do not apply to victim of law enforcement officer's excessive use of force; provides claim may not be denied on certain grounds if claimant is victim of law enforcement officer's excessive use of force; specifies other evidence may be used to support such claim if no police report was filed concerning incident. Effective Date: July 1, 2021
