SB 1540 Zero-tolerance Policies/Schools (2009 Session)
Zero-tolerance Policies/Schools [SPSC]; Requires that a district school board having a policy authorizing corporal punishment as a form of discipline review its policy on said punishment at specified intervals. Provides that zero-tolerance policies do not require the reporting of petty acts of misconduct and misdemeanors to a law enforcement agency. Encourages school districts to use alternatives to expulsion or referral to law enforcement agencies, etc. EFFECTIVE DATE: 07/01/2009.
