HB 1231 Insurance Claims Payments to Physicians (2025 Session)
Insurance Claims Payments to Physicians: Prohibits contracts between certain physicians & health insurers & health maintenance organizations from specifying credit card payments to physicians as only acceptable method for payments; authorizes use of electronic funds transfers by health insurers & HMOs for payments to physicians; provides notification requirements; prohibits health insurers & HMOs from charging fees for automated clearinghouse transfers as claims payments to physicians; prohibits health insurers & HMOs from denying claims subsequently submitted by physicians for procedures that were included in prior authorizations. Effective Date: July 1, 2025
