HB 787 Use or Threatened Use of Force (2024 Session)
Use or Threatened Use of Force: Removes provisions stating that persons who use or threaten to use force, other than deadly force, do not have duty to retreat before using or threatening to use such force in defense of persons or property; prohibits use of deadly force by person who knows that he or she can avoid using deadly force with complete safety by retreating; removes provisions stating that person using or threatening to use deadly force does not have duty to retreat & has right to stand his or her ground; repeals provisions relating to immunity from criminal prosecution & civil action for justifiable use or threatened use of force. Effective Date: upon becoming a law
