HB 1039 Emergency Alerts (2017 Session)
Emergency Alerts: Authorizes law enforcement agency to request FHP to activate Yellow Alert if hit-and-run incident is reported to agency & agency determines that specified requirements are satisfied; requires FHP, upon activation of alert, to assist investigating law enforcement agency by issuing alert, in cooperation with DHSMV & DOT, using certain dynamic message signs; authorizes local law enforcement agency to activate Emergency Alert System & issue Lockdown Alert to schools & child care facilities; requires local law enforcement agencies to create & maintain list of all schools & child care facilities; requires FDLE, in cooperation with DHSMV & DOT, to activate Emergency Alert System & issue an Imminent Threat Alert to public at request of local law enforcement agency in certain circumstances. Effective Date: October 1, 2017
