HB 1017 Reemployment Assistance Fraud (2016 Session)
Reemployment Assistance Fraud: Designates act as "Department of Economic Opportunity Cybercrime Prevention Act"; authorizes DEO to employ law enforcement officers for certain purposes; provides qualifications for employment or appointment as law enforcement officer; specifies responsibilities of such law enforcement officer; adds department as entity that may be issued reproductions from certain files or digital records for specified reasons; provides for disqualification from eligibility for reemployment benefits for specified period of time determined by number of incidents of false or fraudulent representation & date of repayment of certain overpayments; provides methods for department to collect repayment of benefits; expands definition of term "racketeering activity" to include knowingly making false statements or representations or knowingly failing to disclose material fact to obtain or increase benefits or other payments under ch. 443, F.S., & other specified laws. Effective Date: upon becoming a law
